The VL6, the newest VIA board from ABIT, is a combination of ABIT technology used in conjunction with VIA's Apollo Pro 133 chipset. Featuring an integrated AC'97 Audio Codec and an AMR slot, the VL6 ensures a low cost Audio/Modem solution that doesn't compromise performance. Other features include a 133MHz FSB and AGP2x support. ABIT's unique SoftMenu II tops the VL6 off. The VL6 fully supports the newest Intel FC-PGA processors on the market (Pentium III and Celeron II), and is backward compatible to earlier Socket 370 models as well. It offers three 168-pin DIMM slots, supporting 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, and 512MB SDRAM modules for up to 1.5 gigabyte of memory. Furthermore, the VL6 supports VCM. The VL6 also provides a plethora of peripheral possibilities. The VL6's VT82C686A South Bridge supports up to four Ultra ATA 66 devices. Two onboard USB ports are included, and a USB header allows for further two ports. The AMR slot and the AGP slot address your audio, graphic and modem needs. The 5 PCI, 1 ISA configuration gives you the maximum in expandability and flexibility. Wake on LAN and Wake on Modem are built into the VL6, as are IrDA TX/RX headers and Keyboard and Mouse Power-On functionality. The VL6 implements SoftMenu II technology that eliminates the need for jumpers on the mainboard that set CPU parameters, allowing end-users to install or upgrade their own CPUs easily and correctly. The VIA Hardware Monitoring System is a self-diagnostic system for use with VIA chipset-based motherboards. It provides a CPU temperature monitoring thermistor directly below the CPU and protects your PC even further, monitoring critical items such as power supply voltages, CPU & system fan speeds, and CPU and system temperatures. These items are important for the operation of the system, preventing errors and permanent damage by means of warnings that pop up whenever any item is out of normal range.
