The ideal solution for adding serial connectivity to a wide variety of desktop, server and embedded systems, Quatech UniversalPCI (low profile) serial boards are the most reliable in the industry. These UPCI serial boards use a Universal PCI connector compatible with both the 3.3V and 5V signaling. They are designed on the smallest MD1 Low Profile PCI footprint, but come with both a full size ORB for standard systems, and a smaller ORB for use in Low Profile backplanes to fit even 2U racks without riser cards. Available in 1, 2, 4 and 8 port counts, RS-232 or RS-422/485 (1 and 2 ports only). Standard height Quatech Serial PCI Boards are also available from Quatech. Quatech Universal PCI (low profile) boards provide truly universal connectivity, enabling a single product to be used to implement systems with dramatically different resource requirements. The Low Profile PCI footprint was designed to provide greater flexibility for embedded systems, thin-clients, and desktop and server environments. The boards are mechanically similar to standard PCI boards, but use a shorter board and a different mounting bracket. They are designed to fit into systems as low as 3.350"" without using riser cards. The boards are built on 32-bit addressing, and can be used in standard PCI backplanes or with specialized Low Profile PCI brackets. Quatech's boards are built using the smallest (MD1) Low Profile board specification, which allows them to be used in even the smallest size systems without riser cards. PCI 2.3 requires that all plug-in cards support 3.3V signaling. However, many systems still use 5V signaling. Quatech UniversalPCI (Low Profile) boards are designed to accommodate both system types by using a Universal PCI connector compatible with both 3.3V and 5V signaling. They are also compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. This means that they can be used with current equipment, and will not need to be replaced as systems are upgraded. It also means that a single serial board solution can be used across a diverse network comprised of many different types of computer.
